It is the first of the month! And you know what that means…. Or you don’t because I have only shared my joyful little practice with a few close individuals. It doesn’t really have a name and it is not that revolutionary but essentially I think that we need more celebrations and so we shall start of each month with a little something special. I think that if we celebrate the beginning of the new year than we should celebrate the beginning of each month too. Or at least I should! And you are welcome to too.

I came up with the idea a few years ago but I have been on and off with following it. Back in the day my awesome roommate Catt and I would celebrate with drinks or a dinner out. [I feel that I should point out that Catt is actually a human not a cat because that would just be kind of sad] Even though we don’t live together anymore or see each other nearly enough, we still try to at least text at the start of each month as a reminder of the tradition we started. You don’t have to do anything big but I think it is important to just take a moment from our busy lives to enjoy the things we love.

I also like to make one well thought out goal for the month. I think that we should always be striving to be a little bit better than we were the month before while still celebrating the wonderful things that we already are. So my goal of the month is to walk more. And in the process to try to appreciate the winter weather a little.  I have a tendency to hide in the winter because I think it just too frightful but I miss being outside.

So I resolve to face winter more positively this month with as much walking as I can manage. What will you do?
